Fighting off post holiday depression
There is so much hype and excitement in the weeks prior to Christmas. However, afterwards there tends to be long winter months that may lead to depression. Depression can be treated naturally. Extreme cases may need medication. However, mild to moderate cases of depression can be treated with alternative measures.
Some ways to beat depression and get through the winter months.
1. Continue to get exercise. If you can not be outside, try to get to a gym or workout in small spaces of time indoors. Exercise is important to keep your mind and body healthy. Even if your walking it is better than doing nothing at all.
2. Take vitamins and incorporate more Vitamin D. Certain vitamin defiencies from an unhealthy diet can lead to depression. Also take Omega 3 as a daily supplement.
3. Watch what your eating and drinking. Caffeine and alcohol can deplete serotonin levels. An imbalance of serotonin can lead to depression.
4. Make sure you balance your diet and as many fruits and vegetables as you can. These are very high in antioxidants and help prevent disease and give you energy.
5. Get enough sleep. Sleep is a way that your body can restore itself. If your not getting enough sleep your body will break down over time.
6. Herbal remedies are extremely effective. St. Johns Wort for example has very few side effects and in many cases just as effective as a prescription. By taking this route is also allows you to be in control of what your putting into your body and your treatment.

Fight Off The Flu Without A Vaccine!
To be totally honest I have to say that I really believe people are becoming over vaccinated. There is no reason why anyone should have to have flu shots. Many may disagree, however, the reason why people get sick is because of a weak immune system. If your immune system breaks down then it is virtually impossible to even withstand a common cold. The body can be strengthened though to have a stronger immune system and by doing it naturally! Last year I had to take my little one to the doctor for a routine check-up. There was nothing wrong with her at all. The nurse was informing me that I needed to consider a flu and a swine flu vaccine. As her parent I said that I felt that was entirely not necessary. I actually received some rather negative remarks in regards to how I could be putting my child at risk! Needless to say, I gave the doctor a complete breakdown of how it is really impossible to study these vaccines fully when the swine flu has been on the market less than two years. I think its awful, and even more ridiculous that you are made to feel bad when you choose not to just take your doctors word on it. Let me say this...I agree doctors are educated, however, unless they are doctors who believe in trying to treat your body as a living cell they are not worried about anything except prescription drugs and payment. It takes way too much time for a doctor to go into deep research on these drugs that they prescribe to their patients.
They just do not do it. If you think for a minute they have the time to do so, its naive on your part. Get some education backing you and get informed. There are some amazing doctors out there who are willing to look at you and take a more holistic approach to treating you and then if necessary prescribe what you really need. But to be so naive as to just except a vaccine that you have no idea what it is, is really not wise.
Here are a few suggestions in how to naturally start boosting your immune system now before the cold season hits so that you can be a healthier person.
Vitamin D3 - The sunshine vitamin is an amazing supplement that can help you fight off sickness and disease. The dosage is different for children than adults. The FDA recommends a dosage that is rather on the low end. 2500-3000 IU is a good start for adults daily.
Water- Water is an excellent way to purify your bloodstream and your bodies organs. Without sufficient amounts of water, you may experience routine fatigue, dry skin, headaches, constipation, and a decrease normal bodily function which may lead to your body unable to fight off diseases.
Cleanse- A body detox is a great way to eliminate toxins from your body. A great cleanse I recommend is by Dr. Rubin and it can be found at most health food stores; The Total Cleanse is made by Garden of Life and it is not harsh and damaging like some other products.
Sleep- Get the right amount of sleep your body needs to restore itself. By not allowing our body sufficient rest, the immune system will break down, and as a result, not function at full capacity.
Herbs- Echinicea is a great herb that can boost your immune system and can be found in teas, tablets, or drops.
Balance Nervous System- Go to the chiropractor! They are underestimated. A chiropractic adjustment will restore the balance of your nervous system and restore the flow of energy and information throughout the body, and thus help your immune system function at its optimum level. To learn more how chiropractic adjustments can boost your immune system, go to benefits of chiropractic care.
Diet and Proper Nutrition- What we consume plays a major part in keeping the bodies cells healthy and working properly. Healthy food provides energy and helps support your immune system.

Vitamin D3 -The powerful and underestimated vitamin
Vitamin D3 is one of the most essential things your body needs. Your body absorbs vitamin D from the sun, however, with the massive amounts of sunscreen many people are not getting the daily dose of this vital vitamin.
