Get up, get out, and get busy!! Staying healthy and fit

Staying healthy and fit is very challenging when we live in a "fast food" and fast paced culture. There are times when eating right gets pushed to the back burner because of work , stress, lack of time, or even boredom. Keeping yourself fit and healthy has to stay a priority for you. If you want to be healthy, you have to make healthier choices. Making healthy choices encompasses many areas of your life, right down to what you do with your spare time. For example, if your sitting in front of the TV for hours on end, that is not a healthy choice. If your feeling depressed, decisions like this only worsen over time. You have to get up, get out, and get busy!! Start to exercise every day, even if its a simple walk, make this happen every day for your well being. Do not put pressure on yourself here, you do not have to become an Olympian, just start small and work yourself up to what you can over time.

It is important you get your heart rate up and you get a good cardio workout at least twice a week. This type of exercise takes time to work up to if your just making decisions to change. Exercise stimulates your mind and increases your metabolism. Your body and mind need exercise to keep you healthy and strong.

Making wiser choices in what you eat and drink are vital in becoming more healthy. You have heard the saying, "you are what you eat" and its true. If you choose to eat fatty, greasy, starchy food all the time; your going to feel totally gross. Your body is a living organism that needs living things to thrive. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables as often as you can. Avoid soda, diet drinks, and concentrated juices...these all have little or no nutritional value and in many cases will make you gain more weight.
